My childhood music memories are so interesting to me. I am still interested in the music today. Good music recorded before the 80s, since I was born in 1961.

Sounds a bit cynical.

You were growing up at that time and memories are closely tied to personal emotions and feelings of those years. Your emotions and feelings are important to you. But do other people need them? Your personal emotions and feelings have nothing to do with the music directly.
I'm discovering that music now. I would be interested in reading about the specifics of the recording or the events associated with the musicians. Someone's personal childhood associations are not directly related to the music.

I like the works of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Especially "The Inner Mounting Flame" (1971) and "Visions Of The Emerald Beyond" (1975).

P.S. With other works of John McLaughlin I am just beginning to get acquainted.

Styx is a rock band from Chicago (USA), which gained worldwide fame especially during the 1970s and 1980s. Styx is one of the most famous representatives of Adult Orientated Rock. https://de.wikipedia...iki/Styx_(Band)

Today, I find that no longer so good...

That was different in my childhood, which I count times to 1979.

Today, there must be much more substance. Or like this...

Yes, Head Hunters I know. I like that album.
I like the three Mwandishi Crossings Sextant albums even more. They're darker, deeper, more jazzy.
And the hard bop albums from the 60's. Hancock has a lot of interesting albums.

PS. The jazz thing started much later...

It doesn't matter what kind of music you listened to at that time.
The important thing is what music recorded in the 60's is interesting to listen to today.

Here is a statement from a friend (sammy).
As I said, I understand him, would also go on my sack, but he is quite human.......
You do not understand what you think is good music. Hold it against me that I should only find beautiful what is beautiful today.
Of course, there were beautiful things in the past.
But nowadays there is a recording much more demanding, the content of the music does not matter....

Leider.
