Is anyone listening to music from the 50's, 60's and 70's now?
Jazz and blues in all their diversity. Recordings of classical music from those years. And, of course, rock.
A question primarily for young and middle-aged people. Older people probably know this music by heart. For those who are not familiar with this music, it can be an interesting discovery.

I still listen to music of that era. I am perhaps, a little too young to have fully appreciated music from the 1950s but the 60s and 70s produced some iconic work. I write this on the day when the world has lost when of the greatest songwriters of the time ... Burt Bacharach

I think age is not important. The main thing is tastes in music. I'm also young :), but I enjoy listening to records from the 50's.
Jazz for example:

▸ The Ben Webster Quintet - Soulville
▸ Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else
Clifford Brown and Max Roach
▸ Clifford Brown - Study In Brown
▸ Clifford Brown & Max Roach - At Basin Street
▸ Coleman Hawkins - The Hawk Flies High
▸ Horace Silver - Horace Silver And The Jazz Messengers
▸ Horace Silver - Blowin' the Blues Away
▸ Max Roach - Jazz In 3/4 Time
▸ Max Roach - Deeds, Not Words
▸ Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
▸ Sonny Rollins - Worktime
▸ Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners
▸ Thelonious Monk - Monk's Music

Classical for example:

Mahler: Bruno Walter, New York Philharmonic Orchestra – Symphony No. 2
Mahler: Paul Kletzki, Philharmonia Orchestra – Symphony No. 4
Saint-Saëns: Charles Munch, Boston Symphony Orchestra – Symphony No. 3

I am not a connoisseur of classical music. Just started getting to know her.

Of the recent discoveries of the music of that era, Tomasz Stanko became for me. Polish jazz trumpeter.
Listened to these albums:

▸ Music For K (1970)
▸ Purple Sun (1973)
▸ Twet (1974)
▸ Balladyna (1976)

P.S. R.I.P. maestro Burt Bacharach

Marcin Wasilewski's Trio played with Tomasz Stanko on many albums. One of my favorite artists

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try to listen to Tomasz Stanko's works after 2001.

Genesis 70's is good.
I remembered the album Lightshine  Feeling. Is this interesting to anyone right now? He made a strong impression on me the first time I met him. It was about 8-10 years ago.

Listened to Tomasz Stanko – Soul of Things. Once again convinced that I do not like modern recordings.
Compression. High level. It sounds very "close". With audiophile detail. But it's completely unnatural.

The old stuff from Genesis is very impressive. Not as commercial as the newer ones.

I agree with you. I guess commerce has ruined popular music. The desire to make money on music is natural. But, profit has become the only goal of the labels. They stopped caring about the music, the musicians, the quality of the recordings. They stopped caring about everything but money.
The loudness war has also begun. I really don't like over-compression in recordings. I think compression distorts the perception of music.
Now many people think that Opeth is very high quality music. Also, many people think that Karen Souza is a jazz singer. It is sad.

Большое спасибо за ваш пост.
И да, я бы подписал это немедленно, вы так правы! В прошлом люди шли на большие трудности ради записи, а сегодня она так хорошо звучит на мобильном телефоне. Жестоко...

my post in english:

Thank you so much for your post.
And yes, I would sign this immediately, you are so right! In the past people went to great lengths for a record and today it should sound good on the mobile phone. Cruel...

Greetings Martin

Oh jing, why did you take away your Like from DT64?

Well, I can understand, techno, I rarely listen to it either, but that's what I produce myself.
Well, it has nothing to do with the 50-70 years.
Delete my new post right away then probably better too.

But imagine something like that at Woodstock...
I also think it's a pity that we don't know anything about you, where are you from, how old are you...?

I don't like this kind of music. In my opinion, this is not music at all.

Age in the passport does not matter. Experience matters. Taste matters. The depth of immersion in the process is important.
Do you think otherwise?

Frank Zappa. Overrated. Talentless. Plagiarist. People evaluate Zappa differently. But he has interesting works of the early 70s. Hot Rats (1969), Waka Jawaka (1972), The Grand Wazoo (1972). In my opinion, amusing albums.
