JPLAY is pleased to announce collaboration with ProStudioMasters Hi I tried 3 wholly different albums, but got the warning out of region, no sale (someting like that.   Is this true for the Netherlands, EU countries?  A shame, they really have nice music

With some well chosen configuration options you can get to the point of being able to order, but they require a credit card registered to a US or Canadian address. The albums are about €2.50-€4.00 cheaper than on Qobuz, so certainly interesting. Cheers Aleg

No, they only offer credit card payments and the billing address has to be registered in either the US or Canada.

I used my coupon (thanks Marcin and Josef) but I frickin' hate proprietary download managers.  The ProStudioMasters one has been installing (or stalled, there is no elapsed time bar) for over an hour.  This has happened on both Firefox and now Google Chrome.  What a stupid concept; just let me download the darn files. As a reviewer, and also a moderator of a hirez music forum I am always telling folks about great new hirez sites and music.  Although I've been aware of ProStudioMasters for some time this one is not on my personal list yet, and won't be if the DLM thing is not working.  Argh!  And they have my (discounted) money.

Update:  The ProStudioMasters DLM for my Windows Vista machine still does not work; HOWEVER, I was able to successfully download their album on my Mac Mini (OSX).  Additionally, their customer support has acknowledged that the Windows DLM software is being upgraded, and were nice enough to offer, unsolicited, to give me compensation for my troubles (i.e a free album download) once the new DLM is in place.   That is a nice gesture and one I may take them up on. The music they offer is high quality (especially Fidelio, among others) and they seem to be a site that responds to customer issues.  I want to publicly acknowledge that.  The Windows issue, although still open in my case, has a short term workaround for me (OSX) and what appears to be a long-term solution (new Windows-based download manager software).   Ted

By the way, I downloaded some new stuff on ProStudioMasters today and all went well…very well, in fact.  The new download manager is easy and very quick.  Thanks Oles and team. Ted

I'd like to know whether there is any real time processing/conversion required when one plays an AIFF file with JPlay Mini on a PC (non-Apple) more so than when playing a WAV file. I typically buy WAV files only but ProStudioMasters sells AIFF and FLAC only. I'm trying to understand whether there will be any compromise with an AIFF file. Marcin / Josef, can you comment?   Thanks   H

Hi, I always opt for wav files also, but when they are not available, let's say only flac, I convert them to wav with Dbpoweramp.

HVV - AIFF had better meta-data support but otherwise is same as WAV except that it was developed way back when Apple was using Motorola CPU which has opposite byte-order to Intel so technically yeah, there is a difference as every sample needs to have bytes reversed - it's nowhere need the processing involved in decompressing e.g. FLAC though but you can always just convert to WAV offline to eliminate even this minimal 'processing'...

Hello Ted,
Ive read that you are into Hi res music websites. I am in the process of creating a new one with a music market that doesn't exist on the web and putting a lot of effort in the quality of the server, which will be custom made and audiophile upgraded with many tweaks so the transfer will suffer as little as possible. I read you had trouble with the download manager from Prostudio masters, as I know the download manager is vital for the quality of the file bypassing the download manager buit in browsers. Ted, as an audiophile that you are familiarized with this sites, do you have any sugestion of what you would like to find in a Hi res store or things that you hate from them? any input will be very much appreciated, thank you, Guillermo
