Put all the jumpers back in and hooked up molex power, and its working. Absolutely not the way I want to use it, but its a start. Time to play.

I tried two different dac's and both required the 5 volt power. I also am using an external drive connected to the other usb on Jcat card. It also had to have 5 volts to work. I have two copies of the sound files; one on external via usb, one in the computer via sata. Using the usb version is a little better for sure. For gaming the sound is much more detailed, bass much cleaner, with added depth. This card is an amazing upgrade. Excellent work Jcat!

Would there be any benefit in moving the femto usb from PCI-E 2.o x1 slot to 3.0 x16 graphics card slot (if I get a cpu with integrated graphics)?

It depends how these PCI E slot is connected, you'd have to check a block diagram of the motherboard to see if connection is different. If the PCIe 3.0 slot has direct connection to CPU lane whereas PCIe 2.0 slot is connected via PCH then it makes sense to move to PCIe 3.0 slot.

Hi, I am trying to do the 'two ports' update on my PC but I keep getting the following error: cant post a screenshot ![]()
but basically it says 'operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software.
Ihave disabled antivirus and malware but it persists. Anyone else had any luck? cheers

Hi, I have a question about the jumpers on the USB Femto Card.
I just installed the card yesterday. I have it powered by an external LPS. Both of my DAC's do not require the 5v usb power so I removed all the jumpers. Is that correct for the absolute best sound?
I tried it with the jumpers in place with the LPS and it sounded great but a little overly warm. When I removed all the jumpers (every jumper on the board), there was more detail and a little less warmth. There was also more space between instruments. Was I supposed to just remove J4 and J8 or all the jumpers?
Thanks,
Lawrence

Thanks Marcin. I have to tell you how fantastic this card is. It is so much better than my older V1.1 card. I can't believe the profound effect it has on improving the sound. Just fabulous.
My gear is a Mark Levinson 5805 Integrated amp with a fabulous built in DAC, a Luxman DA-06 DAC (which is not as good as the Levinsons), Arendal 1528 speakers and a custom computer that I built using premium parts for low noise that I remote into using windows remote desk top. Music player is Audirvana Studio and HQP.

I have a question, I am using the Femto card with all jumpers removed. I have 2 dacs. The DAC in my Mark Levinson Integrated amp does not need the 5v power, so I am using the card with all jumpers removed and an external Teradak 30 watt 5v LPS.
1- My Luxman DAC believe it or not needs the 5v. I am going to hook it up to the number 2 USB port on the card. Do I just put the jumpers back in at J7 and J8? Is there anything else that I need to do?
2- Do I need to connect it with a molex connector from the MOBO to power J2 or does the PCIE 16x provide the power? If I need to connect it with a Molex where do I connect it to?
3- Or will the Number 2 USB port still use power from my LPS and what jumpers do I install to power the port from from my LPS?
4- Do I use the filter or not for the internal power? I am assuming I do for the internal power due to noise.
Much Thanks,
Lawrence

I replied via email, but I can paste the reply here:
HI Lawrence,
Jumper configuration is explained in the manual here, please check: https://jcat.eu/JCAT...quick_start.pdf
For best sound quality, 5V LPS should be connected to the card at all times.
PCIe power will not power USB ports on the card.
Best regards,
Marcin

Hi Marcin, can you please clarify these two statements from the "Installation" section of the manual? They seem to contradict one another?
However, it is highly recommended to connect a clean 5V/1A external power supply via the J3 power jack (The jack is 2.1/5.5 mm) – this is recommended even if a USB DAC/USB DDC doesn’t require 5V via USB port.
Then at the end:
If a USB DAC/USB DDC does not require 5V via USB ports, it is recommended to remove all jumpers from the card for best performance.
If all the jumpers are off, the card is powered through the PCIe slot, no? Does supplying 5V power via J3 do anything at all if the jumpers are removed? I've always been partial to the sound with jumpers off (HDPlex linear PSU). Thank you.

No, the card is powered by external PSU if applied. The difference is that there will be no 5V present on the card's USB ports.
