According to UPS my card is scheduled for delivery today! :)

How is the work on the guide progressing?

Would be great to have as a reference when installing,/configuring.

Will be finished next week. For now, this should do: http://files.jplay.e...quick_start.pdf:)

Best regards,
Marcin

Well, unfortunately the delivery was a no show. :(

Looking at the detailed status of the delivery on the UPS site it now shows the package as just being received by UPS in Poland at 18:00 today.

Sounds like it will take a couple more days before arriving here in Germany.

I also wait it in Germany, mine will come on Tuesday :)

Mine seems to be just leaving Poland. Apparently they are going to row it across the Atlantic.

EU orders should be delivered by now for most customers. I know some people are burning in the cards already :)

Well the card finally arrived and I managed to put it through a couple of initial tests yesterday. :)

The packaging and overall build quality of the card is very good. It has a solid feel to it and certainly does not convey the impression of a low cost / mass production piece of electronics.

I am using the card in an intel driven Win10 Roon / HQPlayer PC, powered by an HDPlex PSU. The remainder of the signal chain consists of a Sonore MicroRendu (first generation) > Lush USB Cable >  Mutec MC-3+ USB > Trinnov ST-2 > Devialet 250 Pro.

My preferred connection method between the Network Card and mR is a direct Ethernet Cat 7 cable connection via a windows network bridge across both ports of the JCAT.  This was a bit of challenge given the nature of the MR and its need for a DHCP assigned IP address. Needless to say, if one follows the right sequence, it can be achieved, but can be somewhat tedious. Would definitely be beneficial if the JCAT crew could put together some additional documentation in this regard. ;)

So what about the SQ? Honestly, my system has never sounded better. Although I would not categorize the level of improvement as substantial, it is significant. Imaging, timing and transparency clearly benefit from the card in my system.

A thumbs up product in my opinion.

Thanks for the report. Burn-in and proper adjustments will improve things quite a bit. I haven't finished the full guide yet. All customers who purchased the JCAT NET Card FEMTO will receive it via email.

Regarding setup with streamers such as mR or sms-200, I will get demo units and prepare step-by-step manuals myself.

Best regards,

Marcin

I wrote a detailed guide that I think will help everyone enjoy the product even more.

The article is not publicly available - it's a free bonus for everyone who purchased the card. Everyone who purchased the JCAT NET Card FEMTO should have received the link to the article via email already. If not then please shout :)

To be honest, my experience with computer audio on linux is limited. It may change in the future, but right now I'm afraid I can't make similar guide for linux. What I can recommend is search for the parameters I described and a way to adjust them on linux. I'm sure not all are available, but some should be adjustable on linux too...

Hi,

Now I have began to use and I have placed the NET card in ControlPC because I don’t have a free PCIe slot in audioPC. Compared to before it became a clear improvement :) And again one more step better after having trimmed settings according to Marcin's manual. Thank you very much for that :)  I power the NET Card with an external LiFePO4 battery together with an ultra low noise and transient fast regulator, a clear improvement over all other power sources I have. If you have invested in this extremely good NET card so also use a really good separate power source only for the card is my advice :)

best regards

Tomas

Hi Marcin,
I tested card with LPS-1, whick produces max 1.2A. At one moment led on Lps-1 became red (capacitors not charged) and changed to green. So i think that at some moment card ate more than 1.2A. So i have doubts if the card just switched to internal motherboard power. Is that possible, that card can get power from motherboard and at the same time from external psu, if it doesnt provide enough power/current. Or card switches on external psu if it connected and only use its power and ignore motherboard even when external psu is too weak for card?

+1. Please share which source you got this external battery and fast regulator from. I may need two sets for my dual PC setup. Thank you Tomas.

+1. Please share which source you got this external battery and fast regulator from. I may need two sets for my dual PC setup. Thank you Tomas.

I use two of these cells in series, and the regulator is LT1764. Just DIY in other words.

The well-known Audiowind A-270 is also fine with either LT1963 or LT1764 and an appropriate battery.

Tomas, thanks for the report! Indeed, high quality PSU is really important for the NET Card. (as well as for the USB Card)

Hi Marcin,
I tested card with LPS-1, whick produces max 1.2A. At one moment led on Lps-1 became red (capacitors not charged) and changed to green. So i think that at some moment card ate more than 1.2A. Or card switches on external psu if it connected and only use its power and ignore motherboard even when external psu is too weak for card?

The NET Card will switch to PCIe power automatically and continue operation if external PSU fails or does not provide enough current. If you use only one port on the card, it might be an idea to disable 2nd port in device manager. It should help

Best regards,

Marcin
