I am already using the JCAT usb isolator. Do you recommend using the new USB XE EVO card together (in serial) with the isolator, or using either one alone ?

Both can be used together, but I'd use USB XE EVO alone.

I'm on the first hours with the USB XE EVO - first impression "good"
It sound as it where already burned in. The old USB XE sounded in the first days very harsh

I had to swallow a toad – the cable for the Master OCXO is much shorter than the old one.
I had to find a new place for the Master OCXO. But beside that everything works fine.

My first finding is, that voices sound noticeable better. Sibilance is better than before
My test track for that is: My Soul Remembers - Sophie Zelmani

I'd recommend using the blue port which has EMI-filter built-in.

It sounds out-of-the-box clearly better than USB card XE (with external clock).

 

The bigger difference is better vocals, deeper soundstage, transparency and less digital "harsh".

It is not possible to disable a port completely, but when you pull jumper J3, there will be no power routed to that USB port.

It is not possible to disable a port completely, but when you pull jumper J3, there will be no power routed to that USB port. 

I tested and it works, it is a little improvement in SQ but it is opposite - pull jumper J3 switches power off in the "blue" usb port (the port I use).

 

I did pull jumper J4 what switches power off in the "white" usb port (not used port)

Yes. There are no known compatibility issues with the latest firmware.

I have another question:
How many PCIe Lanes has the bord, I know that it is compatible with 1 to 16, but how many are really on the bord?
