Hi Phil,

Is it possible to have a feature to uninstall FoD (WS2022 core)? I think it may be usefull as FoD installed decreases SQ a little bit.

On the other hand I need FoD installed at least once to make some optimization via devmgmt tool as an example.

The next beta of AO 4.00 will bringt an FoD installer withing ServiceTool. It's neded for quite many things, so uninstalling it will not be my top priority. But shouldn't be too compliciated to have it included from the begining either way, so... :)

Best,

AudioPhil

Does Phil have an estimate of when 4.0 will be in final form?

Are we talking  month or so or more like a half year?

To answer your initial question, the best way would be a fresh install of Server 2022 and not an upgrade from 2019, thats always the best and cleanest way to do it. You can run AO 4.00 on Server 2019 if you like of course, but you can't run AO 3.00 on Server 2022. So you can ugrade to AO 4.00 already on server 2019 other of all supported OS'es, but you will need to uprade to AO 4.00 as soon Server 2022 or Windows 11 comes into play.

Since we are still in beta phase we are certainly not talking a month or so. I see sill many new features I want for AO 4.00, which first have to be coded and tested and so on. I haven't even started updaing the entire PDF guide which a lot of work as well. So quality always first..

Hope this helps to make it a bit more clear.

Best,

AudioPhil

Thank you.  Very clear.

As much as I like sound quality improvements, for me- I will wait until everything is finalized.  AO is a INCREDIBLE program- but we all know it has never been ultra stable.  So- I certainly want to wait until it is as stable as possible- in final form before going ahead.

Would AO 4.0 beta on WIndows Server 2022 be an improvement over AO 4.0 beta  on Windows server 2019- or not by much?

Also- for those who have tested WS2022 with AO4.0 Beta- is it reasonably stable?

Forget features- I'm concerned about stability....  Specifically in GUI mode.   Core is not for me...

I'm surprised about the stability comments if the reference is to AO 3.0.

I have always found AO 3.0 be extremely stable and reliable in my setups using the GUI mode, especially with respect to everyday use of the systems, resetting the drivers and services when necessary, running AO again after such resets, modifying the shell, changing sound signatures and digital filters, or altering network items.

It would be helpful to learn under what conditions stability problems were encountered.

Well- twice I used "remove programs" to remove AO and my system was completely corrupted and needed install from scratch.  Im using WS2019.

Other than that- indeed- it seems fine....

Ah, so rather than the program being unstable, you had a problem when you tried to uninstall AO 3.0.

According to the AO 3.0 manual, the AudiophileUnistaller should reverse all changes made by AO 3.0. Did you uninstall AO 3.0 via Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> AudiophileOptimizer 3.0 -> Uninstall?

If so, perhaps you should describe the problem you had to Audiophil in an email to support@highend-audiopc.com. I'm sure he would appreciate the input, and he might be able to offer some insight into why you had the difficulty.

Probably the most stable software I've ever seen. When you disable something with AO it stays disabled ;-)

But not AO, you need to roll it back not uninstall it.

Sorry if I misunderstood but were you trying to completely remove AO 3.0 or just reset the changes made to the services and drivers?

If the latter, then as billgr indicated, you would not uninstall AO 3.0. Rather, you would use the AO Service Tool to reset the AO optimizations.

I tried to completely uninstall AO3.0 twice and my system completely crashed requiring reinstall.    Again- no other instability issues.

Incredible program.

So, I would liketo confirm that for those who used WS2019 and AO3.0 and switched to the current Beta AO4.0 with WS2022 that they hear a sonic upgrade.

Is this correct?

I may give it a try...

4D is fantastic.  Agree it is a bit warmer.....

How about a filter settign which is tonally thicker, more solidity, but necessairly warm?

4A seems to be in this direction; colder tha 4D but thicker, more tonal density----- but I wanted others opinions.
