I figured that this might be of potential interest to forum members and might serve to resurrect the largely unused Hydepark section of the board.
I turned the TV on this evening and stumbled across a repeat screening of the Classic Albums episode dedicated to Meat Loaf's 'Bat Out Of Hell'. I have never particularly liked the album, although Jim Steinman's songs are first rate and Todd Rundgren's innovative production always catches the ear.
So why do I find the album so hard to enjoy? Perhaps it is Meat Loaf's overblown quasi stage musical / operatic vocals? It is more likely to be the awful sound quality of the finished album.
This evening, I shall be trying the 2016 SACD reissue in the hope that it will broaden my appreciation.
