I've just received and installed master clock upgrade to my Jcat USB XE card. The card is fed from JCAT Optimo 3 DUO 5v and master clock from JCAT Optimo S ATX (molex). My music server is highly tuned single PC (WS2019 AO core) with almost all available hardware and software optimization features implemented.

 

What I heard from the same beginning is a huge improvement - less digital with less distortion (less harsh) fuller sound, more resolved and detailed. 

Every aspect of the sound was improved, the scene is slightly moved back and deeper, the bass is better extended and detailed, vocals with less syblilants, high tones smoother and refined. 

 

I think all this above is because of the better timing resulting in that each particular sound is more accurate (not to long) and better 3D located.

It what was for me very important as I could hear before the sound slightly to aggressive although I have a reference acoustic room. I doubt that upgrading my current DAC Meitner MA3 to higher level would improve this timing to this extend (for sure would improve other things).

 

I'm expecting further SQ improvement as master clock is not warmed up yet and I plan to reconnect power supply from JCAT Optimo S ATX (molex) to Otimo 3 DUO 5v.

The XE USB card with the OXCO Master watch update took very little time to arrive, six days, from when it left Spain, until it was delivered today to my home from Poland. Bravo Marcin!
In principle, while the clock is being burned, I will use the power from the ÓPTIMO 3 Duo for the USB XE card and an Uptone LPS 1.2, 5 volts, with DC power from a 12 volt solar battery, for the Master clock. OCXO, with a cable with 16AWG quad-star architecture and GSS360, pure copper from Neotech, with 90 degree angled barrel connectors from Furutech, 5.5/2.1 and 5.5/2.5 mm, with 300 hours of use.
Then I will test the OXCO Master clock with a molex cable from the Optimo S ATX with 5 volts. And later I will do it with the ÓPTIMO 3 DUO and draw conclusions.
For now, with three hours of burn time, it already sounds better!
I agree with what Bogkor35 wrote about updating the watch. Carlos

Please keep us posted! The Master OCXO Clock is arguably the most sensitive component for power supply, so it will be interested to read your comments. The best results we have is with our soon to be officially released ULTIMO PSU with its dedicated ULTIMO DC cable. But OPTIMO 3 DUO surely sounds great too. The OPTIMO nano is no slouch either. I compared them all feeding the Master OCXO clock in my referrence system

I switched few days ago power supply from JCAT Optimo S ATX (molex) to JCAT Optimo 3 DUO 5v (but also replacing standard DUO cable by Ultimo DC cable) and the difference is more than noticeable.

I'm living with the OXCO Masterclock upgrade now for a few days, powered at present by JCAT Optimo S ATX while waiting for matching cable to use Optimo 3.

 

0ver all the years every new Jplay/Jcat  gear, every upgrade, meant a signifikant step foreward in my system, but when they announced an upgrade for the USB XE card my expectations where not that enthusiastic, to be honest. To my ears it was already perfect.

 

You can make everything sound different, but better? This-or-that-improvements, better highs, bass, whatever, which only get on your nerves after while. I never had this with jplay/Jcat and - to make it short - they did it again, promise kept.

 

This upgrade again brings your stereo one important step up on the stairway to high-end-heaven and brings us listeners another step closer to the recording room. This is how it has to be!

I swapped the Uptone LPS 1.2 for the JCAT Optimo 3 Duo when I finished making the new custom DC cables for the Optimo. The combination of dual short cables, quad-star architecture, cotton sheath, braided copper sheath shielding, 99% Silver with 1% Gold Mundorf alloy wire with the Optimo 3 Duo is a first-class combination. The change with respect to the Uptone with Neotech copper cable was spectacular from the first moment. Since then only one word comes to mind, Beauty. No matter the folder or the type of music you play, the result is a jaw dropping to the floor and an expression of disbelief on the face. Spectacular . Carlos

If your Farad is 3 Amps or more, you could make a Y cable that supplies DC to the XE card and OCXO clock. If not, you will have to buy another LPS.

Or we can solder a DC cable to the USB Card XE's DC input, so that a single external PSU can power both the USB Card XE and the Master OCXO Clock. We've done it for a customer recently.
