I'm curious to know how many people are using isolation devices under their computers and DACs. I'm using a homemade roller bearing system that had positive effects on my old CD player. I swear it cleans up the sound on my PC/DAC platform, but have no idea why since their is no laser tracking going on. Anyone have any thoughts?

I also use anti-vibration solution under my audiopc with positive results. From my experience these things matter for all audio equipment, with or without mechanical parts. Read VertexAQ docs on their website for more info

Most of my gear has sat on Mana Acoustics platforms for years, now it all sits on a combination of Mana and PS Audio Powerbases - amps, PCs, CD transport and power supplies.     I haven't had a turntable since the mid 90s (which is where the whole dedicated support thing started) but like you, Marcin, I believe it's important for everything   regards Andy

Hi I'm using Stillpoints for isolation and vibration control under all my components, including both Audio and Control PC, amp & DAC. If you have any doubt about the deleterious impact vibration has on your system Stillpoints will change your mind. Vibration control for cables is also very important to get the most out of your components and system as a whole. - Nick

I use ball bearing feet under my PC and have it on my hifi rack.  It makes a big difference.

stillpoints for sure are great - but they are expensive.

I have found a solo business that sells a very good product for half the money of stillpoints - if anyone is interested in some info on these please let me know.

He has a stainless steel version of the product I have been testing for him.  I am waiting to test his new SS bases to test but I think they will be excellent product - higher priced than the product above but at lower cost than stillpoints.

This is a pic of the semi stainless design I have been testing / using - its bloody good

Strange you didn't get any bites from this yet. So, what's the deal with the at least the feet pictured? Which principle do they function on; bearings, rubber washers, springs, or something else? They at least look cool and it's always good to hear "they cost less". Costing less than Stillpoints doesn't exactly make them affordable though, haha  :P

Its a multi function design based on different materials and contact between them - Stainless Steel top section for fast reaction - which drains vibration from the product onto a large ceramic bearing, similar to stillpoints - Rubber o ring in the picture is just to stop any ringing that may occur such as you get with aluminium - even big chunks of it - (Lessloss have tested and proved this)

Then you have Delrin base with Large Rubber O ring under the base and there is also a minimal point of contact between the base and the Ceramic Bearing in the middle.  The base is designed to stop vibrations passing up into component

So Multi design - top designed to drain vibration away from the component - using Stainless for the least impact on the SQ compared to aluminium

Bottom designed to stop vibration passing up into the component.

Hope explained that ok

Inflatable inner tubes under shelves, then ball bearings on furniture cups under both my single PC and the stack with the Preamp, DAC, and Amp. The latter combo isn't all that heavy, so I just used one "platform" for all three. I know this stuff makes a difference because one day I was listening and thought wait... where did my imaging go? Inner tubes were flat. Filled 'em back up - presto chango, everything was back to normal.

Have DAC on 3 ball bearings/cup devices. Do not have anything under Audio or Control PC's. Will investigate giving Audio PC some isolation. Makes sense (just never thought of it).

Would be interested in getting more info on these devices. Tried to send you pm but looks like your mailbox may be filled up.

Thanks.

In my experience stainless steel costs more but works much better than aluminium

Hello Milesian

Could you show us that handmade roller bearing?

Mapleshade 4" thick audio rack, Symposium ball rollers under DAC and music servers. They work well for me.

I am using a lot of Herbies Audio Lab stuff, but I think these cup/bearing assemblies from Canada may be considered good values (if you are not handy with a CNC machine..)

LEVEL 1 - RollerBlocks

http://www.ingress-engineering.ca/

I got a set of those under my small tube preamp (using some Herbies soft dots underneath the RollerBlocks).. the preamp pretty much floats side-to-side (with fairly light cables attached.)

After I get closer to my final component assembly, I will add more mass to the rack (flat thick granite slabs are fairly cheap here) and a few more sets of these RollerBlocks.
