Hello

Currently I have a Host server based on an MSI motherboard and an Amd Ryzen 5700 G CPU with 2 Jcat XE net card and USB powered externally by a linear power supply

I am under linux Gentooplayer and Hqplayer Embedded

I plan to mount a Target PC with a SOTM motherboard and to put the JCAT XE net card + USB from the Host PC

the target PC will be under Genttooplayer + Diretta

the Host PC will only need another JCAT XE net card

that's why I'm posting on this Forum because Marcin advises against it

why ?

if I use a fiber network card, it is difficult to find one with an external power supply and Oxco clock that can compete with a JCAT net CARD XE

thank you for your feedback

:)

Oxco clock is the right answer, I think. An external power supply is, for example, with Linn and/or Naim, the ultimate, in your opinion. Mine too...

With the old Linn, the power supply in the unit was enough. With Naim, it was an expansion stage.

With digital music, the clock is the most important thing. So a super quartz like an Oxco certainly helps. Of course, this means that all the music has to be re-tacked, unless you use an I2S connection.

Have a nice listen
