Hey guys, I want to ask two questions. 1. If I reinstall the windows system, can Jplay still be activated? 2. I want to use my playback system in the car, which may lead to the inability to connect to the Internet and only the LAN. Will this cause Jplay to be unavailable?

Hi johnyeung,

Welcome to the Forum.

1. Yes, provided there are no hardware changes and the PC has an internet connection which normally is required for activation (but see point 2 under ''Activating JPLAY'' in the JPLAY manual).

2. Connection to the internet normally is required only for the 6-monthly activation. JPLAY will be available without an internet connection, but the method by which the control point interacts with the PC will determine whether you will be able to use JPLAY (eg, some control points connect via WiFi to the PC). This will not matter if you are using JPLAYmini on the PC that is running JPLAY.

Cheers,

Bernie

Thanks for your reply, I don't quite understand your second question.
You mean you don't need to be connected to the internet after activation?
Or do I need to have an internet connection for 6 months after activation?
Thank u

Hi johnyeung,

Once JPLAY has been activated, an internet connection is not needed for JPLAY to function. So you can run JPLAY for six months with no internet connection. After 6 months, JPLAY will need to be reactivated and then an internet connection will be required again, but only for the activation process.

Hope that helps,

Bernie

Does reactivation after 6 months require internet connection and manual activation?

Or do I just need an internet connection?

You need an internet connection. According to the JPLAY manual ''Online copy protection system will check if license is valid periodically".

If you do have not an internet connection at the time the license check is made, JPLAY will be inactivated and this will be shown in JPLAY Settings.

You will then need to connect to the internet and run TurboActivate.exe located in C:\JPLAY and then click ‘Activate JPLAYfemto online now‘ to reactivate JPLAY.

Ok, so that means if I can keep the internet online all the time, I won't need to manually activate after 6 months, right?

I'm assuming that is true.

However, my Audio-PC is normally not connected to the internet and I have always had to reactivate JPLAY manually after restoring the internet connection. My Control-PC is normally connected to the internet, occasionally not, and I have had to reactivate JPLAY manually on some occasions. Unfortunately, I have not kept track of the time intervals so it may be that reactivation has occurred automatically when the internet connection was operating but had to be done manually when it was not.

I suggest that when you activate JPLAY you record the date, keep the internet running and then see if six months later reactivation occurs automatically. If so, then you may choose to always keep the internet connection active. If you do not want to always have the internet connection active, manually reactivating JPLAY is straightforward.

It would be great when JPLAY could show in the Control panel how many days are left (on Control- and on Audio-PC).
