Hi Tim,
The same thing happened to me recently, when I installed my Jcat usb xe card. I found that the operating system did not power the card. To check if this is your case and solve it, follow these steps:
- Go to the start button and click with the right mouse button. In the list click on "Device Manager".
- Go to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". You click on the tab and your card should be there. If you don't know what it is, you have to go looking at each usb connection one by one until you find out. To do this, on each connection, click with the right mouse button and click on "Properties", and then on "Events". There you can see which of them was started and configured at the time you installed your card.
-When you have located your card, click with the right mouse button and click on "Properties", and then on "Power Management", and deactivate "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save energy". Remember that you may have to do this on 2 usb connections from the list. You may need to restart your computer.
I hope I've helped.
Regards.
