The app won't be available on Android.

Regarding iOS devices, if you want to use sync option (synchronizing your library with the app i.e. building a database of the library directly on the device), faster device will be useful.

Yes - it is a native iOS app. We don't have resources to start Android project from a scratch.

Not sure if I wrote before, but it's worth mentioning the app won't be free.

I always thought the reason so little metadata is passed to bubbleupnp is to keep the traffic to a minimum and thus achieve maximum sound quality.

Will Femto sound as good using the feature-rich iOS app as bubbleupnp?

Will the metadata (eg bios) be available for local content or only what's stored in tags?

I see you won't be releasing an android version but is it possible to pass more metadata to bubbleupnp while keeping the great sound?

So, if JPlay IOS app will work with streamers like Lumin and Linn, will it work with, for example, SoTM's SMS-200 for instance?

Better, because Bubble UPnP maximum polling rate is 10 seconds.

JPLAY iOS can go up to 12 000 seconds.

All features and database are kept entirely on the iOS device. There is no extra traffic because of that.

Yes, absolutely. It will work with Sotm. I recently checked it with my friend's Ayon and dCS Rossiini network players and it worked too. Technically it should work with all UPnP streamers / servers.

Really expecting a lot about this release.

:)

Does this mean that I must copy all my music on the iPhone/iPad before playing? Or store I only the index of my music library on iPhone/iPad and my  music files are still on music server (e. g. minim Server)?

so would you recommend IOS/Ipad before Android/Tab as control point in effect of sound quality even for BubbleUPnP

I understood that Marcin compared two Apps:

1) JPlay iOS on iOS     vs.

2) BubbleUPnP on Android

Hi,

as a beta tester, Marcin has allowed me to give you some answers.

I've compared JPLAY iOS on my iPad 12,9" 2020 version and Bubbleupnp for Android on my Galaxy A50.

The SQ is better with JPLAY iOS especially when you setup the polling rate to 12000 seconds.

Even you set the update time to 12000s the elapsed time of the played track is correctly displayed.

Usability and design are much better.

@Ben Webster: Only index of your music library is stored on the iPad or the iPhone.

You can synchronise JPLAY FEMTO library as well as libraries such as minimserver library.

I can tell you that this app is very promising.  ;)

Hi DC,

many thanks for your first impressions. It sounds like a nice improvement but not „night & day“?

Not night and day as JPLAY sounds very good yet but better sound stage, basses are deeper and more powerful, the sound even more natural etc, voices are more realistic and beautiful etc...

Will JPLAY app for IOS run on a Mac Airbook equipped with an M1 chip?  I recall reading something to the effect that Macbooks with an M1 chip should be able to run some IOS apps.

Yes, it will run on M1 equipped macs :)

Let me clarify sound quality of the app. Since the app does not process music files at all and in fact is only an advanced remote, it does not have a sound per se. Any sound quality differences between remote apps come from:

A) network activity between the app and the renderer

B) performance & noise of the network

And JPLAY app we eliminated point A. In other words: it's not possible to make the app 'quieter'.

Regards,

Marcin
