Want to use an PCIe extension cable to connect my XE because the slot is blocked by my new graphics card.

However, bought 2 extension cables but none of them worked, XE not even detected at all, any ideas?

I’d use a generic USB card in place of the XE to test and verify the cables work. Also double check on the XE jumpers and power supply if applicable. Lastly, test the XE elsewhere to determine if it’s in fact in good working condition.

Yeah, I have tested the XE on another computer, it's working, and have tested the network card on that another computer with the extension cable, also worked. But the XE with the extension cable on another computer, also do not work.

 

I guess it might have to do with that XE might have more strict timing requirement?

Can you please test the card by inserting USB memory stick to the card's USB port? Is it detected by OS?

Yes, I literally have tried that, with memory sticks, but no detection as well, even though I can see the LED on the stick lighted up when the computer booted (XE is powered by 2.5mm) , so there must be signal going through the PCIe cable, but still nothing, and just to be sure, I tried again, still the same. 

 

[edit] OK, case closed, it's something to do with my new MSI PRO B650 mainboard, its 1x PCIE slots which managed by the chipset somehow doesn't work, even if the XE is connected straight to it without extension cable.

I purchased usb xe.
PC Motherboard : asus rog strix B560-I Gameing WIFI . pcie-4.0
But the xe is not recognized.
All the methods mentioned on this site are not recognized and USB memory stick is detected when external power is connected.
What should I do. Thank you.

Can you check the card in a different PC/ motherboard and load the new firmware on the card?

 

We confirmed that the new firmware for the USB Card XE solves the issue on Z690 chipset.

 

Here is the guide how to upgrade the firmware: https://www.inateck....operation-steps

 

Please note that the firmware must be updated on a PC where the card is detected. The update can not be performed on the Z690 motherboard.

so I upgraded the firmware on another PC (old PC) and installed it on a new pc,

I can confirm that the XE card is not compatible with pretty much all the latest platforms from AMD and Intel.

 

Just came back from the computer shop's service center that I bought another new motherboard from, a new but more expensive ATX with same AM5 B650 chipset motherboard, but it still cannot detect XE just like my another B650 did.

 

The guy at the shop is cool he helped me tested my XE on a pretty high end AM5 670X and one of the new Intel platform I forgot which chipset but it's the latest, both cannot detect XE.

 

Will try the firmware update and test it on B650 soon.

What's the current consumption of the USB XE card ?

Without any DAC supplyed on the USB cable, only the card itself ...

Back with my question, how much current the USB XE card needs ?

I ask because I want to try to supply the card from a Supercapacitor bank and I would like to estimate how long it can play before to recharge

JCAT USB XE needs 1.5A minimum, but 2A or above reportedly sounds even better.
