I have kept a log of comments going back to MC1 and cannot see criticism, only appreciation and constructive dialogue

Hmmmm, I have mentioned no names and did not pointed to any specific comments, yet some people are personally offended and feel the need to defend themselves. I'm wondering why?

I agree. Nonetheless, I reread the last five pages of this thread. I noted that within those five pages various participants have made over 20 positive comments about different MinorityClean versions, asked more than 25 valid questions, raised half a dozen significant issues/concerns and offered numerous pieces of useful information (often in reply to those questions or issues and concerns). These interactions are hallmarks of a successful thread. On the other hand, there have been no derogatory comments, no demands, nor any genuine complaints and the overall tone of the thread has remained civil. As long as a respectful and civil tone is maintained, and our passions do not get the better of our judgement, all reasonable questions, issues and concerns should be welcomed.

Totally agree with Bernie, I can't see any negative comments, complaints or demands.

Couldn't agree more.. I don't hear my speakers anymore, just pure music. And yet I wouldn't be surprised if some next release would beat even this one...

Well said Bernie. We all use MC because we love how it makes our music sound. We are a community who are very supportive of each other in spite of the fact we know almost nothing about what MC does and the concerns caused by comments about instability, danger to cps and the fact that many versions have been withdrawn.

I've been using MC for a long time, I think my first version was called Lv5 and we're now up to 97. I (and many others) have put a lot of time into testing versions and posting what I found. That's a lot of commitment and I don't think I've ever spent as much time on anything that I hardly understand. So I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say a clearer product description and a change log would be most welcome.

There have been warnings that a version might damage a cpu and people have rightly taken this to heart, it's not surprising. But what is surprising is that I've never heard of this actually happening to anyone. Because of this I'm sceptical about it being a real concern. I've never seen any power issues, heat issues or unexpected CPU usage levels while using MC. I might not have been looking at the right moment although my PCs run all the time.

Enough from me. Stay supportive of each other, enjoy the gift of MC, and stay safe.

In view of all the positive comments about MC97 I gave it a listen and agree that the SQ is excellent, especially with the tweaks Cloclo suggested in post #893. If you're using Process Lasso it's really worth trying them!

Yesterday I listened for 5 different versions.MC97 sounds great, smooth, nice 3d imaging, depth with a trade off of bass control and tightiness?

Hi, I would like to ask, Which one is the most warm and full sounding version of Minority Clean? How you would classify MC97?

At the risk of being the one voice of dissent, I must say that I in the end was not blown over by MC97: a bit too loud (as if the dynamic range had been compressed), slightly overcooked in the presence region (1=3kHz, as I also found previously for the now retired MC96) and too fat in the bass (100-150Hz), while at the same time been leaner than MC82 <60Hz.

For me MC82 reamains the best version to date, although it does suffer from mid-bass bloat .....as always these are very subjective and system dependent observations

Now, I am curious to check out MC98.

98 definitely has wider imaging, it feels almost like the sounds are jumping out of the speakers. But maybe at the tradeoff of losing a bit of tightness and focus. 97 is more forward sounding, 98 a bit more relaxed. 98 have more highend but less upper mids. That's probably a good thing if you don't listen to rock or metal.

Reverb tails sounds longer on 98.

The bass of MC98 is very reminiscent of MC82. Deep and huge.

Sorry for my english, I am too excited to post this. I've been listening to classical music all day long, then I've installed Rev98. It seems to make a big leap from previous versions cause I am stunned and literally startled with realism... for i.e. Virgil Fox just played an organ (BWV 532: Prelude) right into my face. I also have some recordings of small live concerts which I attended before (my mom is a pianist and a vocal teacher), one day I've added it to my playlist just to calibrate the feelings - 98 made me feel like I was there again.

MC97 wasn't too bad, but I like MC98's presence. Thank you all for sharing your opinions. Classical music is my poison, too.

I think 97 is pretty special, very good at everything. Tight deep bass, sweeter top end (better than 88 which can be edgy).

But 88 is richer / fuller tonality (fatter?) on some tracks eg percussion.

I'm not sure yet which I like more. But 98 is here and 99 & 100 are promised to follow quickly.
