Instruction says:

Open a UPnP remote app on any device in your home network (see the list below), select JPLAY FEMTO as the renderer (room) and JPLAY femtoServer as the music library (media server).

But it is empty in my case.

Task Manager shows that jplay is running (don^t know if player or server).

Kinsky on iOS sees my PC, but no JPlay to select.

JRemote with Jriver v23 works fine (of course it's turned off for trying with Jplay).

Troubleshooting section does have infos about this topic. So how to configure it?

Thanks for help.

Setup: Windows PC that contains library. Streaming the music via network to Linn Majic DSM using Jremote on iPad. Now what has to be changed to access music via Jplay?

Which OS are you running?

JPLAY FEMTO requires Windows 8 or later OS (64-bit only)

BTW - you can't stream to external renderer/music server with JPLAY

JPLAY is the renderer/server and works only with a DAC/audio interface which supports ASIO/KS/WASAPI

I thought I could use Jplay femto server to send the music via network to my Linn Majik (acting as a dac), using Kinsky f.i. as remote control. Upgrading later with JCat Net Card.
But if have to connect the DAC via USB interface I don‘t get the advantage of the Net Card?
Very mysterious answer of yours. Sorry for my ignorance. So I keep Jriver which works and deinstall Jplay. I thought this could be an audiophile step up. Thanks anyway.

No, JPLAY femtoServer works only inside JPLAY environment (with JPLAY FEMTO renderer).

That said, JCAT NET Card FEMTO will improve sound quality even if you use it with a USB DAC and even with local storage. Please see this article: https://jcat.eu/why-...r-next-upgrade/

There are many comments from NET Card FEMTO users on this forum too.

Regards,

Marcin

Thanks Marcin, I think part of the problem is communication; you talk to me as a developer but I as a non specialist consumer understand only half of it. Please consider creating a „JPlay guide for dummies“.
Maybe I give up to early, but my beginners point of view is: why is the JPlay environment so much more fiddly to install and to configure than JRiver in comparison?

I don't know why. It seems easy:

1. Download and run JPLAY FEMTO setup

2. Select the folders with your music files

3. Restart PC

4. Open JPLAY Settings panel to select your DAC

5. Open a UPnP remote app on any device in your home network (see the list below), select JPLAY FEMTO as the renderer and JPLAY femtoServer as the library

JRiver might be easier because everything takes place inside a single GUI (graphical user interface) while JPLAY runs in background (is invicible)

This nails it. As JPlay has no frontend GUI, I don‘t know about its status. Does it run or not, etc. So I got stuck at step 5. But you told me I won‘t work anyway as I intended, because I misunderstood functuality. I thought your software can be used to transport music from a PC to a DAC. Still, thank you for your support.
