How about you try with this in MapDrive.bat:

net use Z: \\192.168.2.32\music /savecred /persistent:no

use the IP address & the share!

Thanks for you advice.

I have tried "/savecred" but in this case, no Z: drive appeared on Explorer after restarting the OS. Same results for IP adress or NAS name, and with  or without "/persistent:no."

In my understanding, if Z: appears in Explorer, and if I click on it, I have the chance to store the user & password. Is my understanding correct?

Sorry, this issue is really persistent.

I have nog been able to get JPlay FEMTO to work from NAS. First a couple of notes. System is single PC, WIN10 running Total commander as GUI. With Jplay FEMTO i can get it to work with minimserver as before.

I have a reasonable computer knowledge, but am not an expert.

Following the manual I performed the steps mentioned there. When that didn't work I backtracked and run into the following:

net use Z: \\fileserver\music /u:username password /savecred

When i use this command Z: is not added. This is caused by /savecred. If I remove it, it works. If I add it I get a "too many switches" error.

Added Z: without /savecred, restart computer the scheduled task kicks in, but (of course) the credentials to access the NAS need to be reentered to make it accessible

Reinstalled Jplay to enter the correct path (Z:\\Music) for the FEMTO server.

Using Glider it sees FEMTO server but initially didn't seem to find songs. Please note I still have minimserver running on the NAS as well, but disable it in Glider.

After trywing everything again it found some songs, but very few. Trying to play these songs didn't produce sound and the time didn't progress either

So why doesn't /savecred work, why does glider not see all the music and why does it not play it? Any ideas guys?

Thanks for the report. So this works differently depending on the system ;/

Does FEMTO work with MinimServer? Could you please try with JPLAYmini first to see if parameters for playback in JPLAYsettings panel are correct? If that doesn't help, please contact us on support@jplay.eu for a debug build

Simply summarizing my experiences in my system,

1. "net use Z: \\QNAP\music /u:admin admin" perfectly works when put directly in Command Prompt.

2. However, putting this command in a bat.file to be run by Task Scheduler as SYSTEM, disconnected Z: with red X appears with "wrong user or password."

3. Delay time, or "on logon" in Task Scheduler does not make differences.

4. Adding "/savecred" in the bat.file results in no added drive even with red X.

I feel that this is an OS (WS2016GUI) dependent issue, or QNAP issue, as things must be fine at your office. I might try with WS2012R2, later.

From what I'm reading most here are on Server 2016 or the previous version, so sorry to be one of the oddballs :)

You're points were the first things I checked when installing FEMTO -  first started with just mini, set the DAC to 7Hz, tried minimserver with FEMTO server, all works fine the first time I tried these. Btw, sound quality with minimserver and FEMTO is already a substantial improvement. Furthermore I switched off hibernate to make sure that it doesn't cause any issues.

So all that works, but unfortunately no such luck with FEMTO server.

Hi, Marcin, I am testing MapDrive with WS2012R2 GUI. Surprisingly, everything is the same as WS2016 GUI. So, this is not an OS dependent issue.

Then, may be QNAP issues?

OK, thanks. Could you please try with Kinsky too?

And please enter the IP address of the network adapter which connects to your home network in the femtoServerIPaddress entry in regedit under Computer\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JPLAY7 key. (requires reboot or restarting JPLAYfemto service)

Is it possible that you move your music folders on a NAS to a public folder on NAS so no password is required and then do the procedure without password?

It seems the problem is with login/pass

Marcin,

Will do the tests you mentioned later today. Did some checking - it would seem /savecred is not supported by Win10?

Hi, alain, it seems that you did not have any major issue during the setup. Did you just follow current manual? With "/savecred" in bat.file?

Marcin, This suggestion could be difficult for me to do. My QNAP has 1TB SSD x 2 almost full of music files. I still want to keep JPLAY6.2, so MinimuS is a must, and actually my mother is using TwonkeyMedia, too. But, I believe you are right that QNAP is probably blocking the access from SYSTEM.

Hi, WonkaBar, you gave me a clue. For the time being, I will probably focus my efforts on using MinimServer. As I heard that MinimServer's sounds are quite inferior to FEMTO Server's I did not even give it a try. So, this morning, I compared those two, and found that the differences are not huge at all, or can be said "subtle." Given that anyway I cannot use FEMTO Server currently, I will investigate JPLAY 7.0 more with MinimServer for sounds, formats, stability, control points, etc.

When time goes by, the way to connect FEMTO server to my QNAP will be found, and functionalities and stability of FEMTO server may have been improved by then.

I have also found some compatibility of JPLAY6.2 and 7.0, between dual PCs. So, I installed JPLAY7.0 to WS2012R2 Core of Audio PC.

     Control PC                                    Audio PC

1) WS2016GUI w/JPLAY7.0               WS2012R2 Core w/JPLAY7.0 (used to be WS2016GUI)

2) WS2012R2 Core w/JPLAY6.2        WS2012R2 Core w/JPLAY7.0 (used to be 6.0)

This way, I can easily switch between 1) 7.0 (DLNA) and 2) 6.2 (OpenHome), without touching Audio PC. Sound quality of both 1) and 2) are improved, due to Core for 1) and due to 7.0 for 2).

Formats:       FLAC uncompressed 44.1/16, 44.1 - 192/24, WAV 352.8/24, DSF5.6 - 11.2, dBpoweramp, MP3tag, TASCAM Hi-Res Editor

Glad to see someone actually reads my ramblings :)

Honestly I've been quite happy with the sound I got from the previous version of JPlay with minimserver. So when first installing Jplay FEMTO I naturally first configured it that way and checked the sound quality - the only difference being the Jplay version so all sound improvements, if any, must becoming from the new version of Jplay.

The reason why I am keen to get FEMTO server to work is because I'd like to see what the difference in SQ is between that and minim and then make up my own mind which I like better.

That, and becasue I don't like not knowing why things don't work.

Needless to say I am very happy playing music with the new version of Jplay and minimserver. A big improvement in speed, spacing, air, depth and clarity.

Hi, alain, it seems that you did not have any major issue during the setup. Did you just follow current manual? With "/savecred" in bat.file?

http://jplay.eu/manual/

i have not make bat file...

in windows10 i see the nas.  click right on the folder i want and choose "connecter un lecteur réseau" (in french). i choose the name and letter and voilà...

in my case Ithe folder \\Nas\musique appear in windows with letter S.

in setup of jplay i just choose S and all is working. Also i have no problem with covert art.

Understood. What if you try this in the MapDrive.bat:

net use Z: \\QNAP\music

Without user/pass. If you don't enter user/pass it should prompt you to enter these when the drive is mapped during next boot.

Marcin, Thanks for your support. I have tried the following, but none of them provoked added dirves, even with a red X over it. I tried putting " * ", hoping for a prompt to enter user/ password.

net use Z: \\QNAP\music

net use Z: \\QNAP\music /u:admin *

net use Z: \\QNAP\music *

Hi, let me add something to my assessment of the "slight" differences between FEMTO Server and MinimServer. In this case, I just made a local Test Library folder in the SSD of Control PC. So, if I successfully connect FEMTO Server with QNAP, the results could be different. Any better, any worse, no one knows, but we will see.

in windows10 i see the nas.  click right on the folder i want and choose "connecter un lecteur réseau" (in french). i choose the name and letter and voilà...

in my case Ithe folder \\Nas\musique appear in windows with letter S.

in setup of jplay i just choose S and all is working. Also i have no problem with covert art.

maybe it is more complicated with WS2012. Since 62 streame i tried and kept w10 and only 1 pc, sound more relaxed and musical (classic 40 hz)

Thanks Alain

I tried that earlier already, and at that time couldn’t get it to work. However, due to reading the forum and it being mostly MS Server OS I never went back to troubleshoot.

I will try it again tonight because this would be the easiest solution.
