Between, any particular configuration for optimal sound quality with the Bubble upnp app ? Any recommendation on the Android table to use with Bubble upnp ?

 

 

3/ Once inside BubbleUPnP, More/Settings/Renderers settings/Select renderer --> JPLAY FEMTO: Renderer polling interval (ms) = 10000.

A WORD OF CAUTION. Increasing the polling interval for the JPLAY FEMTO renderer from the default value to 10000 for Bubble UPnP may thereafter prevent Bubble UPnP from detecting JPLAY FEMTO as the renderer, depending on the make and model of your phone or tablet. If your device can no longer detect JPLAY FEMTO as the renderer you will be unable to restore the default polling intervaI and use your device with JPLAY. The only option will be to uninstall and then reinstall Bubble UPnP (along with having to redo all settings and tweaks) in order for Bubble UPnP to again be able to detect JPLAY FEMTO. I found this out the hard way. :(

 

Thuan, if there was a typo, and the suggested setting was actually supposed to be 1000, could you please confirm that and edit your post accordingly. Thanks.

The question was "any particular configuration for optimal sound quality with the Bubble upnp app ?", not for a safe or default or reliable setting which is likely to produce a so-so SQ. DAC link of 1,000Hz (smallest buffer) and Hibernate On (freezes all except minimal music play related functions) are similar examples of extreme settings that offer best SQ but may not work for everyone.

So, the renderer polling interval of 10,000 ms (max available value) is not a typo. I've been using it with positive results - not only excellent SQ but also pretty reliable whether playing local files or Qobuz streaming. By the way, it was recommended by Marcin for better SQ, if my memory serves me right.

Thanks for the confirmation Thuan. The intent of my previous post was not to disparage your recommendation of using a renderer polling interval of 10,000 to improve sound quality. I apologize if it came across that way.

 

Although a DAC Link of 1000 and Hibernate mode may not work in a specific system, it is a simple matter to change the values in the JPLAY Settings panel to those that do. However, if changing the JPLAY FEMTO renderer polling interval precludes detection of JPLAY FEMTO by Bubble UPnP, the only recourse is to uninstall and then reinstall Bubble UPnP.

 

Knowing this could be helpful and time saving for anyone who tries a renderer polling interval that subsequently prevents Bubble UPnP from detecting JPLAY FEMTO.

In addition, I'd do the followings to further optimize the SQ:

1/ Settings/Device Maintenance: optimize for 100 Excellent status. Put BubbleUPnP as only Unmonitored App. Clean up memory. This entire item #1 is where BubbleUPnP beats HifiCast, imho.

 

 

 

Thanks Thuan. I don't have Settings/Device Maintenance in my tablet :(  Not sure how it influences the sound, but I guess one less thing to worry about.

Looks like you can't search with Bubble?jplay combo ? And it's a limitation on the Jplay femto side ?

No problem. Just wanted to point out one of several opportunities for improving the SQ while using BubbleUPnP based on my experience. In fact, increased renderer polling rate is one major improvement in SQ on a control point. Please refer to the topic ‘JPLAY iOS App’. There’s a discussion/explanation on benefits of increasing max RPR from 10s or 10,000ms on current BubbleUPnP to 12,000s on future iOS app.
