JPLAY does not use ReplayGain or any volume normalization.

some problems of repeat the end of tracks with lond wav files hi-res obtained by converting the files with dbpoweramp. i use minimserver and the sound is better thwith flac converted in wav before on the nas than converted on the fly with minimstreamer. Maybe a problem of tagging of the time of wav files, mayybe i sould use use others converters than dbpoweramp, an advice for choose one?

Can you please tell us the exact configuration in JPLAY settings panel?

ks classic 45 Hz hibernate:off
problem only on hi res wav files (converted on NAS from flac by dbpoweramp).
maybe the cause is metadata in wav files created, i have to try other converters than dbpoweramp...
it seems standardization is not done today:

same with foobar converter.
and it is not due to remote, same with bubble, fidata, mconnect...

Hi Marcin,
I use BubbleUPNP control point on a Samsung S4 tablet and want to know whether it's better to use the BubbleUPNP volume control or my dac's remote. I don't use a preamp and my PS Audio Directstream dac has bitperfect volume control.
The bubbleUPNP developers told me:
"Every UPnP/DLNA renderer has a command to set its volume (generally between 0 and 100). BubbleUPnP uses that command and it is up to the renderer change the volume how it wants. In most case it changes the volume of the hardware and does not modify the audio data to do so."
What do you recommend?
Thanks, Bill

Question: I use Jplay w/ HiFi Cable to listen to Tidal on my PC - KS, 1000hz -->Xmos USB/SPDIF-->DAC. However, I have noticed that if I change the output settings in Windows (e.g. 16/44, 24/384, etc) that there is a slight change in sound quality. Isn't Jplay supposed to bypass these settings?

i use also directstream without preamp (sometimes with ear tube preamp). I use dac volume control. apart this problem of loops of large wav files hires with minimserver, this system sounds great.

So you are using MinimServer with JPLAY FEMTO renderer? Have you tried adjusting DAC Link?

Hi Bill,
JPLAY FEMTO does not have a volume control. You;d have to use a BitPerfect Volume control feature in JPLAY Settings. I'd recommend using the volume control in your DAC.

Please check if you're not changing Hifi cable output settings as well.
As you may know, changing some features in OS or other software has indirect impact on SQ, so it's possible even if JPLAY configuration remains unchanged...

Marcin

That explains why I couldn't get the BubbleUPNP hardware volume controls to work. Femto doesn't pass the volume instructions from BubbleUPNP to the dac. Thanks for clarifying.

for the loop at the end of some wav files: i use minimsetver and femto. the loop is with all settings, ka, asio, ultrastream, classic 1 Hz 500 hz...
just at this moment, at the end of a song, (44khz 16 bits) the song finish and suddenly it loop at 30seconds before the end, and before this new end i can hear fore some seconds the end of the precedent file i plaid before this song ! (but this precedent file was at 96khz and it plays here slower)..; funny... it is not always this cataclysmic scenario..
its is strange that no ^roblem occurs with flac files converted on the flly by minimserver/mimstreamer.... the bad thing is the sound is better with wav files than flac converted by minimstreamer.

just pc dac and 2 mono amp, each minor change is drastic. i put away also all ao fidelizer process lasso wserver and so, neither sigma isotek i used before... just win10 and jplay femto, and a well choosed power cable for the psu (not linear) power pc connect on the wall, and well choosed usb and ethernet cable too, and resolving and natural are at the top... well choosed firmware version for the ps dac also... frustration is the electronics have to be on the ground: all rack, pieces of wood spikes cerramics discs etc... colour and constrain the system also... and also the differences betwwen remote and their settings (polling interval in bubble for example). Femto is the principal piece which made all the 'artificials' additionals soft end hard obsolete.... for me...

Hmm. Does the problem occur when the files are directly on the PC too?
when did you notice this issue? do you remember which changes caused it?

nothing apart convert all flac files on the NAS into wav... i tried to download on qobuz the same sing once in flac, once in wav. the wav (and the flac) file play corectly. if i convert the flac into wav the new wav file loop... maybe i can sand you the two files for seeing what is different?
note that problem is only with minimserver, no femtoserver, but using minim the sound is far more detailed, for me...
update: i found that files converted using ffmpeg work! ffmpeg is a command-line soft, i took time to find a batch converter which permits to convert folders and add parameters for correct 24 bit conversion.
update2: a new update is available today for minimserver and minimstreamer and correct bugs relative to files in windows environment (windows 1252 characters). it seems it solve some problems... have to confirm after tryings, to-morrow...
update 3 the install of new minimserver and minimstreamer seems to solve problems of loops with femto. if it appears again i have now the solution to convert files in flac in and reconvert in wav with ffmpeg batch converter.
