Hi friends,

I'm able to play a single song via Ultrastream 700Hz/0.01sec  in hibernate mood and it's heaven!!!!

But.. Playing an album is not possible as the next song can not be be loaded and the current one stopped 14 sec before it ends. this is a problem I have read many times in this form that happens to many users.

How can I enjoy a full album? it's killing me. I have tried everything but nothing works..... how can I config the system so the next song will be able to load in time and not stop the music?

My step up :

  • Intel NUC Kit i5 7260U
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Ultrastream 700Hz/0.01sec
  • hibernate mood
  • JPLAYStreamer with local library
  • MinimServer
  • FLAC
  • BubbleDS Next for Android

That's right, you're not alone. In addition to having a 16/44.1 track stopped 14 seconds before its end, DSD tracks play the first 2 minutes 9 seconds and stop. But what a glorious SQ when the tracks play, I agree. I've tried singlePC, dualPC, WS2012r2 as controlPC, all the same. It's probably my DAC.

Here're what I'm doing:

1/ Accept the current situation, load one song at a time or select less than 2'10" DSD tracks and enjoy the moments.
2/ JplayMini can play anything without issues, even gapless. I use it on a bare bone WS2016 core, no network. SQ isn't JplayStreamer but close.
3/ Wait for the JPLAY next release.

Please note that there're people who manage to run JplayStreamer and MinimServer flawlessly, so you and I perhaps belong to the not very lucky small group. Still, this is a mile ahead from past players such as Bug Head and HySolid. Alternatives are Foobar and Roon, as far as I know. While waiting for the next release, maybe I should try one of those.

One of the problems of computer audio IMHO is that there are so many variables involved that one can never find a definitive way of setting up a computer based front end that will work in all configurations. I've been playing around with my two PCs today and think I may have come up with a solution that has evaded my all the time that I have been running dual PC ... More about that in an email when I am sure that I have resolved a long standing problem!

I would be inclined to wait for the new version of JPLAY and just enjoy some good music with JPLAYMini while we are waiting. Although Marcin is yet to confirm the improvements and a release date, I don't think it can be too far away

Every time I go back to JplayMini to be able to play an entire playlist and/or all file formats including DSD and hires, there's a nostalgia for JplayStreamer/MinimServer/BubbleUPnP/BubbleDS combo. JplayMini seems dryer, lacking the oomph that the latter offers.

I'm having faith that someday soon we'll have the cake and eat it too.

Edit: There I am back to JS/MS, and life is good again. Even in GUI and being prone to music stopped from time to time, the SQ is undeniably and absolutely gorgeous. It's just too good to leave for any other player, especially when combined with JCAT USB and NIC. Next and until the next JPLAY release, installation MinimServer on 2016 Core is on my to do list.

The problem comes with the dac driver in first place and minimserver in second. I am looking forward for the day when I will get rid of minimserver.

While waiting for the new release, I'm installing JplayStreamer and MinimServer on singlePC core as a step further from GUI. I have several specific questions:

1/ following AO guide I installed Java to prepare for MinimServer but not sure I've installed the correct Java version, as no indicator of Java displays on TM.

2/ MinimServer installed anyway, Miniwatch is also installed on another PC but the icon is grey indicating that no MinimServer instance is running.

3/ the above brings me back to the main pc where Java and MinimServer are supposed to but appear not installed properly.

Please help.

Updates: 1/ done. Turned out the JRE version I used wasn't right for the core mode, I guess. The 10.0.1 works, and I can see Java on TM. MinimServer installed and asked for the music location. Mini watch on the other PC still not seeing MinimServer, showing grey color.

It is not running because you have not installed java.

Did you follow and execute this: https://www.computer...ws-server-core/

Well, turned out the MiniWatch didn't see MinimServer running because firewall wasn't off on main PC. I should read instructions more closely. After running AO -e, I started MinimServer, and Miniwatch turned green instantly. I can configure MinimServer now, on core.

Kudos to you taxman2 and AudioPhil for your guidelines contributing to my ability to run JplayStreamer/MiniServer on WS2016 core. Many thanks!

Let me give you a tip. As you know I am running dual pc setup and I enjoy listening normal flac, wav files at Ultrastream, 700/0.01sec. I've explained everything in my guide. I've noticed upon starting the 2 PCs together, after 1, 2 hours the music stops. But when fist, I start Audio PC, wait for 5 min. to configure itself and then start Control PC and wait for minimserver to configure the library, then I could listen all day without interruptions. Hope it works for you!

Interesting observation. Until my 2nd PC can accommodate a JCAT Femto NIC, I'll stick to singlePC. Speaking of which, I'm just lucky to have JPLAYSTREAMER, MinimServer and BubbleUPnP running on WS2016 core. If you could show me how to have MinimServer run at startup, I'd have a nice headless setup.

During the process, I've learned and applied several tips that you shared. Thank you much for that.

You could assign Fidelizer to run minimserver as media player or you could read this: http://jplay.eu/foru...thread/?p=44240

With foobar2000 I can now have the cake and eat it. Windows Server 2016 Core, 700Hz/0.01sec, KS, UltraStream, Hibernate on, headless, music files from 44.1/16 to DSD play flawlessly, SQ is pretty much JplayStreamer/MinimServer/BubbleUPnP comparable.

Since I've added a third pc no more interruptions whatsoever. Obviously the dac matters a lot. Get SU-1, read my guide and enjoy music without interruptions.
