I've accidentally lost my optimized BIOS settings for the PPA B85M-G server. It happened after a BIOS update, I was silly not to check if a copy was properly saved to USB, which wasn't. Paul Pang no longer supports the discontinued mobo, so I'm asking if any of you who has the same mobo please share with me the optimized settings.

Many thanks in advance.

P.S. I've posted the same message on the CA.

Okay I'm assuming nobody else on this forum has or uses the mobo, so I'm taking the matter into my hand and optimizing it as if I were an IT expert. Turned out it is not rocket science; I've just spent time and brain cells to experiment, trials and misses, and finally come up with a pretty decent set of optimized settings. After this experience I feel I have a better idea on optimizing BIOS in general. Sorry to bother you all.

Make sure to save your settings as 'user defaults' & take some pictures too (just to be sure) :)

Great advice, great experience, thanks.

Here's another odd thing: when the server is seated close to ground, it seems easier to tweak BIOS, install OS, drivers, etc. As soon as the same server moves to audio rack shelf that is 3,4 feet higher than ground, the server becomes picky and refuses to work most if the time. It is as if it's afraid of the height. Evething else stays the same: PSU, cables, etc., only the height changes.

There is an audio ghost in that room. Just kidding....

Could be that some cable(s) are loose or there is not enough air flow on your audio rack and the PC gets easily overheated.

Right again.  The power LED went on and off constantly and I was scared to death, thinking, "Hell, another dead server!"  But that same power cable gave the same symptom on a test server which I knew worked.  A quick check on the PSU side revealed the culprit: due to the height and long distance, the connector got loose.

Overheating is another concern with PPA servers, so I've learned to be extra careful when dealing with those toys.
