I am using Paul Pang TCXO SSD and compared to Samsung 850 Pro and Intel 520 Series the difference is amazing, now it seems that Paul Pang does not longer make them anymore so I am looking for an alternative,

What about industrial SSD's? like VITRIUM http://www.virtium.c...-state-storage/

Or any other brand, are they worth it?, I mean the quality of the SSD is extremely important, once I heard a Paul Pang I can no longer listen to a Samsung or Intel.

For OS storage, I believe SLC is important as Marcin suggests.  I use SATA DOM SLC 32GB.

How do you feed them with voltage? I believe they are too slow for my purposes

Ok still learning, they are a little less or much less musical sounding that PPang's solution?

Supermicro SATA DOM (SuperDOM) Advantages

  • Performance Advantage: Up to 2x faster than competitive products
  • Optimized Design: Approximately 1 sq. in. in size, no power cable necessary*
  • Power Savings: Consumes only 1~2w per module vs. 6~7w on HDD
  • Available in 128GB, 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB models
  • Supports ALL Supermicro Server Solutions  only when using its "direct" 5V from mobo?

    * No power cable necessary on Supermicro yellow SATA connector.
Additional 5V power connection needed on traditional SATA connector.

If you use this ) I would still use the external 5v input

X10 Generation Boards X9 Generation Boards SATADOM_x10_connect.jpgSATADOM_x9_connect.jpg   Backward compatible w/ 5V cable

Il looks like  a normal sata port, right?

Is this as suggested through Minorisuke by Marcin  an alternative "best"  to PPang's  CF to SATA adapter?

thx Sim  if it is that good iw ill be much more economical for me to choose this path.

In the mean time technicat progress has reached 259 GB. Is the 16 Gig sounding better than the bigger ones?

I think I read that this SLC has a very slow read and write speed, is that right?

I have this one for my OS:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/181385440051

I never compared the different sizes ( :) ), but as Marcin's long time recommendation that the smaller drive will sound better it make sense! And why to pay for bigger drive if 16GB is good enough?!

There are no specs about the speed, but I can assure you that is very fast.

I've been using Swissbit SLC 16GB and Apacer SLC 32GB SSDs as OS disks.  Size-wise, 16GB is about enough to get by, but sometimes Windows Server 2016 refuses to install the OS on it due to the limited capacity.  For a little more $$, 32GB SLC is my best recommendation.  SLC usually reads/writes faster and has longer life, as far as I know.

I've checked swiss... hoping to find a fast read and write but still lower :(

And it's almost double (both read and write) compared to my latest Apacer CF6 that I use in my Audio PC. It's more than enough for me, and my need for SQ :)  Just little curious which application you run that requires such high speed?

Even more suprised :o  ;)

Using Swissbit X500 series SLC 16Gb (SATA II) running WS2016 core (relatively expensive for an SSD - actually more expensive than the SATA III X600 series). When first set up sound was unpleasantly bright compared to Samsung Evo 850 used previously. However after a week or so burn-in the sound became more natural and laid back with a much wider soundstage - a very pleasant surprise. No going back now. I also compared a Transcend 32Gb MLC SSD with ECC but there was hardly any difference compared to the TLC (I think) Samsung Evo.

I avoid SATA DOM devices because they sit in the middle of the strong EMI/RFI produced by the CPU and RAM.

Jogar did you compare the Swissbit to a modded Paul Pang TCXO?

I'd like to make the comparison you suggest, but I understand that unfortunately the TXCO Paul Pang is no longer available.

Very happy with the Swissbit at the moment and that's due to the great suggestions I've seen on this forum (many thanks).
