I was playing with Hysolid for the last couple of days and I liked the sound. One big advantage of Hysolid over Bughead/Nontallion is the ease and convenience to play music. There is no long preparation required.

However I have a few problems with it. Hope some of you can help:

1. I have my single PC AOed with WS 2012 R2 in minimal server mode. Everything is good until I select a different folder to play. The log-on account of Hysolid and HysolidT will revert back to local system. Jplay won't work. I have to revert back to GUI mode and re-assign the 2 HYsolid services. Is that your experience? A bit inconvenient.

2. I can't get Hysolid to work under core mode in Ws2012 R2. Somehow folder selection wont work both in Hysolid and Nontallion. For example when I run the first Hysolid program to select a music folder. The window will appear, but it won't go to folder windows for folder selection. Just stop there. Same thing happened to folder selection in Nontallion/Bughead.

3. I haven't tried WS 2016 yet. But before I do, will WS 2016 solve these problems?

Thanks

1. Where are the music folders located? If they're all on the same disk, why not put them under a master folder and tell HS to use that master folder. HS will be much happier that way.

2. Again, HS will be friendly even in core mode while music folders are in one place and on a local disk. If removing HS completely and reinstalling HS doesn't work, then a clean OS install might help.

3. Even though WS2016 is highly recommended for better SQ, and 2016 Core is so far the best imho, it is suggested that you get yourself comfortable with 2012, especially Core mode. Reason being that 2016 GUI and core are not inter-converted from one to another.

Best of luck!

Thanks Thuanb.

I have 5.5T bytes of music. Can only select a genre to listen to one at a time.

Hysolod works as long as I don't change folder.

I'd create a master folder, containing shortcuts pointing to various genre folders (classical, jazz, pop, etc.) that Is always seen by HySolid. Hopefully, that way no folder change will be necessary yet you can have access to all genres.
