Maybe this issue has already been treated in the thread dealing with the best audio Computer hardware configuration but I did not want to walk through 81 pages.
Does it matter if uncompressed audiofiles are rendered from an external USB drive instead of being played from the internal hdd (sata) soundqualitywise?
My Logic tells me that it should matter since JPlay loads everything into memory before rendition anyway, but ther has been an ongoing debate anyway.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
In my case it is just a laptop, so not too much possibilities for tweakings. So you think the internal hdd is preferrable to a much faster USB Drive?

If it's a laptop, I'd keep music library outside and leave internal laptop drive for OS and applications only.
If USB is used for connection to USB DAC, I'd use a NAS instead of USB drive.

Thanks a lot for your reply again.
I plan to use JPLAY mini with the Laptop and an USB dac. To be honest, a NAS is not what I am looking for, because I do not want to depend on LAN or WIFI.
Do you think that the internal HDD is a source of disturbance or noise, if the player (JPLAY) plays from RAM?
And: Do you think that an external USB driven SSD Ort HDD causes disturbance or noise, when it hanges on a different bus as the DAC?
If so, would you think about SD cards? My Laptop has such a slot with Reader.

SD card is definitely better than internal drive or external USB
