Hi.   I received jplay net card last week and m2 -> pcie riser cable today, and all working ok in my nuc (control pc) :).  Just want to check my settings look optimal, if I may:

Currently control ip is 192.168.0.25, audio ip is 192.168.1.36, and my router (used exclusively for bubble) is 192.168.0.42

Questions: For the router's IP, would it be best to use the second adapter of the JP net card, the nuc's adapter (219LM) or just try both for SQ?  And good idea to bridge?  Thanks a lot.

NB: There's a cisco 2960CG between both nucs. My library is via local storage (usb) on control pc.

Congratulations on getting the best sounding network card. ControlPC (your NUC) must have two IPs, what is the 2nd IP? Since AudioPC IP is 192.168.1.36, the 2nd IP of controlPC better be 192.168.1.xx.

I use the integrated net adapter as it’s PPA OCXO clocked. You should try both, on-board and JCAT Femto’s 2nd port, and decide which gives better SQ. I've never bridged so have no experience here.

Finally got it after three years ...better late than never I guess  :) .

ControlPC (your NUC) must have two IPs, what is the 2nd IP

As mentioned, the two IP's on my control pc are 192.168.0.25 for femto and 192.168.0.42 (either integrated adapter or second adapter of net card) for the router to remote device, which appears to be what you've done?

Since AudioPC IP is 192.168.1.36, the 2nd IP of controlPC better be 192.168.1.xx.

Sorry, that was a typo, I should have written 192.168.0.36 for the audio pc IP.  That would make all three IP's on the same subnet though.

By the way, I haven't actually set anything up yet, so any advice is appreciated

I’d put them in different subnets. Power the JCAT card with an external and decent quality PSU. DC cables make a difference. Optimize network adapter per supplied instructions. Ethernet cables make a difference, so do switches. JCAT network cards on both PCs make a difference.

You may try with 2nd adapter for router, but connecting both to JCAT NET is also a good idea.

Just type 192.168.0.25 femtoServerIPaddress entry in regedit under Computer\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JPLAY7 key.

Restart JPLAYfemto service or reboot afterwards.

Enjoy :)

Two net card FEMTO newbie questions (mine is now en route from Poland to The Netherlands):

First my current setup:

modem/router => MikroTik switch => fiber => Intel fiber dual NIC => server PC

MikroTik switch => CAT6 => audio PC with NAA

Before everything was fiber, but I prefer the sound with copper downstream.

Currently both control and audio PC's are Linux.

(1) I was planning to mount the net card FEMTO in the audio PC. Is that the way to go? Or does anyone advise to put it in the control PC (which is another room, optically isolated)?

(2) Assuming I put it in the audio PC, and given that the control PC has an Intel dual SFP NIC + stock RJ45 NIC, how would I go about bridging?

Any advice welcome!

xigmanas or local hd => Streacom FC8 PC i7 16GB RAM Windows 10, Audirvana+ / HQPlayer => optically isolated ethernet => either DSD256 => renderer HDPlex H1.S i3 8GB RAM powered by SBooster 19V with GentooPlayer (Linux), mpd+upmpdcli or NAA, ramdisk => Regen USB=> Lush^2 => SOtM tX-USBhubEX => Lush^1 => Lampizator Lite 7 Amanero or PCM 176kHz => i5 8GB Server 2016 core, AO, FP, JPLAY FEMTO => Regen USB => Lush^2 => SOtM tX-USBhubEX => Lush^1 => Audiophilleo 1 => Audio Aéro Prestige => Lightspeed Attenuator => power amp Cayin A-88T (modified) => speakers Spendor SP100 + 2x REL T5  / Taket H2 + TR2 / Hifiman HE-6; HDPlex LPSU

I'd put it in the audio PC. I don't know how to bridge the ports under linux unfortunately. Please search on Audiophilestyle

About the external power supply: The card is powered by the PCI bus. If an external 5v cable is connected, the connector switches to the external source.
How can you be sure? If I disconnect even during playback... no bug.
And if we use the molex connector, the detection of a voltage cuts the pci power supply?

You have to be sure, because that's how the card is designed. There are automatic switches on the card. As soon as the PSU is disconnected, the card switches to PCIe power. The proof should be in the listening.

Thank you for this answer Marcin.
I had a doubt because it works very well, connected to my HDPlex ATX 400 (5v output).
But it doesn't seem to work any less well connected to the 1A output of the Shanti on my Allo.
Which seems a bit low to me.

Finally got two JCAT Net Card FEMTO, thanks to @Thuan. Now the FEMTO trio is complete and the result is impressive. I wonder what colleagues who switched to XE are experiencing, but for now my initial project is finished (after years!) and delivering an incredible result. I'm very satisfied, thanks also to @Marcin and his great dedication.

Congratulations Felipe!  And sorry for transit delay.  Now you're ready to push the SQ even further by reaping the benefits of the latest MC/LE and soon incoming JPLAY iOS app.

1Amp is definitely too low for the NET Card FEMTO.

Sorry for my late reply. I missed your question.

Yes, it should work, but you have to install drivers from Intel. This is for Windows OS.

However, with ROCK (linux based OS) it's a bit more complicated and you have to use console to make adjustments.
