Hi again.

I am having the issue with JPlaystreamer stopping at about 2-15 seconds remaining. This happens only on very long tracks. (10-20 secs)

Playlist stops even though it is sequential album tracks, no sample- or bitrate changing.

I am gonna try with Mini to see if it is the same as I suspect it being a JPlaystreamer issue.

I have tried it with every dac-link and buffer possible, running XStream.

Would changing XStream mode be it? Increasing XStreambuffer changes nothing.

Really annoying after listrning to a great classical piece then it suddenly stops before the second movement... :(

Any advice?

Where are tracks stored? If on external USB drive it may have powered off and takes a long time to power back on...

Hi again

Now I am getting dropouts again even with US.

Mini works fine though.

I think it could be a JPlaystreamer+Minimserver issue but i don't quite understand where...

I ran a tool that keeps USB-drives alive, but playback stopped even so with JPlaystreamer. Process lasso showed no sign of stress in the system.

However my laptop is not very powerful, could it be a performance issue there?

Hi johsgjerde,

This sounds similar to a problem I had some time ago. I’m using JPLAYStreamer (UltraStream engine) with JRiver Media Center 19 as the DLNA server and Kazoo as the control point. Longer tracks would stop playing several seconds before the end. JPLAYmini worked perfectly. The problem turned out to be JPLAY in Steamer mode needing to wait longer for the hand off from JRiver. This was solved by Josef providing a modified version of Streamer.exe. Perhaps your system is having a similar problem with Minimserver?

I have also noticed that the same problem can occasionally happen in my setup if I have the OS Timer Resolution button ticked in the Fidelizer setup window. Fidelizer then assigns Media Center to a single core and prevents Process Lasso assigning it to all cores. If I do not tick the Timer Resolution button thereby allowing Process Lasso to do all the core assignments, the tracks play to the end. Have you checked to see whether the core assignment for Minimserver differs for Fidelizer and Process Lasso? If so you could try unticking the OS Timer Resolution button in the Fidelizer to see if that helps.

Cheers,

Bernie

@marcin Yes the tracks are stored on a USB-drive.

@bernie Thanks for some great suggestions! Will try the Fidelizer option off and see if that makes a difference.

Do you have an alternate build of the streamer Josef and Marcin that i could try?

The first attempt with OS resolution ticked off worked great for the first time ever!

Both javaw.exe (minimserver) and JPlaystreamer are now assigned to both cores. (I know it is not much, but that's all the power I have available atm.)

Further testing underway...

So far today I have had no dropouts with any long classical work. Great!
Seems like unticking the OS resolution did the trick.

Will post back if dropouts return.

Thank you for a great tip which I never would have thought of. ;)

Have had the same problem with music periodically stopping 5 sec. into a track. Will employ above tip (unticking OS resolution in Fidelizer) as well, and see how that plays out.

Hello, I seem to be experiencing similar issues.

<Main issue:>

Music stops near the end.

<Issue details: >

In my case, this happens with certain WAV files. Most of my libraries were made of FLAC uncompressed, which do not cause this issue. 24 bit WAV files that are downloaded and converted from FLAC by dBpoweramp seem OK, too.

But, WAV files that I ripped long ago from CDs, with Windows Media Player (WMP), and DXD files that I downloaded from Native DSD, and converted to WAV by XRECODE3 seem to have this issue.

<Previous resoluton...No Fidelizer used:>

I have not ticked OS resolution, in the first place I do not use Fidelizer.

<Audio system: >

My configurations are as below,

Server:         MinimServer on QNAP HS-210

Controller:    Linn Kinsky or Linn Kazoo on iPad

PC:              JPLAY Streamer on Single PC setup with a normal usage note book of DELL with i5, 8GB, Windows 10 64bit, LAN cable connected

DAC:            Pioneer N-70A (a network audio player), USB-DAC used for JPLAY

USB cable:  CNU-1, made by myself, cheeTarh Consulting, #1&4 are disconnected, (N-70A do not require BUS POWER)

<JPLAY Setting:>

via.:                       KS Pioneer N-70A/ N-50A USB Audio

Mode:                    ULTRAstream

DAC Link:             170 Hz seems maximum

Throttle:                ON

Hibernate mode:   OFF

<JPLAY mini tested:>

I tested if this issue happens with JPLAY mini, and confirmed that these WAV files can continuously be played with JPLAY mini. So, the issue should lie in JPLAY streamer.

<Tentative resort: >

For the time being, converting WMP ripped 16 bit WAV files with this issues to FLAC uncompressed would solve the stoppage, but WAV sounds better, particularly in low-pitched sounds.

As for DXD, WAV conversion by dBpoweramp would also solve this stoppage issue, but this sound inferior to WAV converted by XRECODE3. I have never thought about different sound qualities between WAV files, and very much feel puzzled.

<Question: >

If anyone could explain these experiences, and have tips for fixing, please, please do so!

Most likely DAC Link is set to high. Please try lower values.

Or network connection from QNAP to PC is to slow.

Hello, Marcin,

I reduced DAC Link from ~170 to ~1, but the stoppage near the end still happened.

I do not know the way to test LAN speed, but I checked Internet speed, instead. The PC is connected to Internet at around 90MB (720Mbps; much higher than I thought as the LAN port of this DELL note PC should be 100M-base.). All my LAN gears are Gigabit, and all cables are CAT7. (My desktop PC is linked at more than 4 times higher than this note PC.)

I also simply thought that if the data transmission speed is the cause, how come FLAC uncompressed 352.8kHz 24 bit play seamlessly, and beautifully with JPLAY. I really appreciate all your JPLAY work which enabled my system to play DXD with powerful & graceful sounds that I have never heard.

The issue happens only with certain types of WAV files. Some said WAV Header Tag might be the cause, what do you think?

WAV has more strict rules with JPLAYStreamer. I'd try MinimServer locally to exclude timing issue between your NAS and PC

Thanks for your suggestion. Now, I put a MinimServer on the same note PC. The folder paths are the folders in QNAP. Unfortunately, exactly the same issue persistently recurred; WAV44.1/24 stopped 20 seconds to the end of the track.

I would like your kind advices on what could be the causes on this matter.
