To get it short. I love speakers...but have to change for family reasons. I need a good pair of closed back headphones and a headphones amplifier. My first option would be Audeze EL-8 and Musical Fidelity M1 HPAP. I do want the AQ NightHawk...but these are open backs! :-( Any suggestions what I should go for in the same price range...when I prefer speakers? Suggestions of both headphones and matching amp is appreciated! ;-)

Thanks! :-) Unfortuately the Auralic is way over my budget. I am aiming for a headphones & headphones amp for max €1500 together. Anyone heard Furutechs ADL H128 headphones and possibly compared them with Audeze EL-8? With these headphones I can at least aim for a headphones amp in the €1100 region.

The Violectric V200 looks very promising indeed. Love the look of it and the balanced inputs is a nice addition. I saw second hand a Kingrex HQ-1 in metallic red finish for €370. I am tempted to buy it...but the Violectric V200 is surely very tempting as well. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Depending on your music taste if not already listen to Stax, amazingly clean electrostatics, not closed back but not loud. Fantastic very low distortion and no coloration.

I always consider Stax to be an option. However, I have pretty much decided to go for the Pioneer U-05 S Headphone amp/DAC/Pre amp since it got everything that I am looking for in the long run. I have´nt descided the headphones yet though but are thinking about (in order) 1.Sennheiser HD700 balanced, 2.Hifiman HE-500 Balanced, 3. Fostex TH-900 (second hand), 4..AKG 712 Pro or maybe 5. Sennheiser HD650 Balanced. As you might notice there is only one pair of closed headphones on my list (Fostex)! 
Other suggestion on headphones that could match the Pioneer U-05 S is appreciated. Max. price new or second hand is roughly EUR 700 and gladly balanced. Unfortunately the Sennheiser HD800 balanced is too expensive...even second hand in Sweden.

To late to cry! I have baught the Pioneer U-05 S and are now looking for the perfect headphones to match it. Guessing a warm sounding headphones should compliment the sound signature of the Pioneer. Headphones suggestions is welcome. AKG's or Furutechs ADL with mini XLR connections is useful with my Kimber cable I already own...but headphones with balanced option without complicated re-cabling is most interesting since the Pioneer have this preferable option.

Well suddenly the competition has ended! I just ordered the Fostex TH-900 headphones and will eventually change to balanced cables. I truly believe that the Pioneer U-05 S and the Fostex TH-900 could be the perfect match. I hope I'm right!

Sorry for reviving this old thread but how did that combo work out for the op? I'm out for a nice closed back headphones to be used with my Woo WA8 headphone amp.
