I've asked Shenzhenaudio for connecting it to SU-1.It was important to know how many Ampers it could handle. This LPS is originally manufactured at ZeroZone. Meiyan are distributors. I have 2 mini PCs. They need 12V/3A. I've ordered 2 LPS 12/5.5A. That is good enough to feed them. The mini PCs are quite spacious and there was no problem fitting the JCAT usb card inside the audio pc using a mini pcie to pcie raiser converter. Just had to drill some extra holes.

I am a newcomer to the Forum - so first I shall say HALLO!
I am using the Jcat card for over a year. I also use WaveIO USB/SPDiF converter. So far, WaveIO is in a seperate enclosure. My idea is to put WaveIO as close to Jcat card, in one enclosure. This would enable to eliminate USB cable. My question is - if it is possible?
Normaly, the USB signal from the Jcat card is taken from USB socket. Can it be done "stright" from the Jcat board, with the use of short (ca. 5 cm) wires? Did enyone try this kind of solution?
When I look into the back (reverse) side of the Jcat card, the USB socket soldered leadouts are really very small. Therefore it could be difficult to lead/solder the wires on my own. But maybe such a card, with "auxilary" leadouts can be ordered from Mr Marcin?
I guess that only two wires would be needed. So far I use a USB cable with separated power and signal wires - the cable is like a Jcat cable. With WaveIO converter, I do not have to put the 5V to the "power" plug of the cable. WaveIO is powered with external 5V PSU. Thus only signal wire of the USB cable is used.
Would be nice to hear if anyone did try this kind of solution - just to mount USB/SPDiF converter as close to Jcat card as possible - without USB cable.

Hello and welcome!
I honestly don't see any benefits. USB ports provide additional isolation (shielding). Best to use short USB Cable if you wish to keep both devices close.

Marcin

Next steps: USB Femto will be externally powered, Nano USB3.0 added back, Fidelizer 8 running again, the another report will follow. But for now and listening on cans, it feels nothing is missing. Musicality is here, if any perhaps there's a different sonic flavor.
Update #1: Now the Nano USB and iP2 are back in between PC and DAC, LDO filter on, JCAT Femto powered externally from iPower. Clarity and tonality balance increased.
Update #2: A DC purifier is added between iPower and JCAT USB Femto, JCAT Femto netcard now powered by external 5v (TeddyPardo) instead of prior LP4. The SQ now makes it feel tweaking can rest for a while. Black quiet, immediacy, dynamics, decisiveness, details, they are all here in front of this listener. Still waiting for Fidelizer 8 to work again.

Hi Folks,
is anyone using Audioquest Diamond USB cable with the JCAT Femto USB card ? I can't make it work - I have two DACs that needs the 5v VBUS (not to power but just for handshake) and the streamer fails to recognize both the DAC. However, if I use the motherboard USB port, it works fine.
All other USB cables, like Curious, Audience, etc work fine.
any idea what could go wrong ?

Please check if jumpers on the card are set properly. Did you connect 5V PSU? External or internal?
The easiest way to verify if the card works properly is to insert a USB memory stick into a USB port on the card. If the stick is detected then the card works properly.
