Hi Guys,

/jcat%20usb%20card.jpg

JCAT USB Card designed together with Adnaco Technology, a company that specializes in design of low noise high dynamic range (120dB+) data acquisition systems for sonar and radar applications, is coming later this year.

Basic specs:

- the card will use ultra low noise linear regulators exclusively
– the card will use high precision ultra low phase noise oscillator
– the card can be powered externally
– in case external PSU is of very high quality, it'll be possible to disable filtering on the card and pass 5V USB voltage from the external PSU directly to the USB connector

I'll update this thread everytime we get new details.

UPDATE:

- manual

- latest driver

Cheers,
Marcin

Hi Marcin A very enticing description. May I express my interest in one of those cards? I reserved a PCI slot on the AdioPC and a rail from the Paul Hynes specifically for this card. Cheers Aleg

That's sounds very nice, especially the linear power regulators.  Looking forward to seeing it in production.

Marcin,   From the graphic it appears as if there will not be an optical cable to a secondary unit that contains the USB out ports like the current Adnaco offerings, correct?   Gery

Hi Marcin,   Can you please let me know if it uses the same size dc input jack (for power) as the Adnaco s3?   Thanks,

Is there any plan of JCAT USB filter in near future? Or it's already included in USB card? What do you think of those? http://www.onsemi.co........22T1-D.PDF http://www.empirical........hort-block http://www.ultrafi.b........ilter.html http://ifi-audio.com/en/iUSB.html

Aleg or Marcin,   What's the voltage/amperage that Paul Hynes or Teddy Pardo, etc. would have to know about this upcoming USB board?   Thanks.

hamsi, the card has very good filtering on board.  Mike, +5V (don't know amperage requirements yet) Cheers, Marcin

Marcin,   I too would be very interested in this.  The Paul Hynes Linear PS will be 5V 3A for Paul Pang V.1 USB card (Per Paul's recomendation).  Do you believe your card may be rated beyond this?   I look forward to testing this card out.   -j

Marcin,   When you test the card.  Let us know what benefit you hear and if you would recommend filter bypass when running a clean linear power supply, such as Paul Hynes.   This would be helpful and appreciated.   -j

Kevalin or others:

What is filter bypass?

How do you set it?

Do you know if one has a Linear Power Supply (LPS) with the Paul Pang USB Board whether that has to be set?

Thanks.

Mike,   If you click on the USB diagram and look left of center at the bottom you will see three pins.  Up is Pin #1 Filter, #3 is No Filter.  The bridge pin would connect #2 (J8) to either #1 or #3.  I am not clear if this is a power filter or a USB filter.   Marcin, can you elaborate on this more?   Paul says 5V and at least 1A.  3A sounds better, per his corespondance.  Paul Hynes low current supply is 3A.    -john.

John, thanks for pointing this out.   Do you run a Paul Pang USB Audio card?  If so, is there a way to turn off the power from the mobo so only the external power source is working?  On the SOtM USB card I have now for my Zuma, using an external source of power is supposed to automatically turn off any internal power to the board.
