Yes, I have tested one. This is one amazing product for one amazing result. The sound result is much more present, with more details, more live than the sound result of my JPLAY computer (hibernate mode with 2 computers....).

In fact I tried before one Linux media server with integrated SOtM USB card and SOtM filters (2000€)  who was himself much better than my Jplay computer  (hibernate mode with 2 computers....) but this SMS-100 is much better than this linux server.

I never get one so analog sound from my digitals tracks since I use this media server.

Plug and play, easy to use with a lot of software possibilities, 4 differents networks client are integrated to use it with Logitech Media Player, JRiver, AssetUPNP or...

One only word: fantastics, and for this price....

Hello everybody,

seems to be a very interesting product. Could you tell us perhaps more about the clients? How does JRiver work with it?

You hook the DAC directly via USB to the sms-100?

Thanks a lot, tiggerkater

You can configure the SMS-100 to work as DLNA client. You configure JRiver to play trough the DLNA client (usual function in JRiver) and that's all.   My DAC, is connected to the USB output's of the SMS-100 (The same hardware that for the Famous other SOtM USB Computer Cards) and is automatically detected by the SMS-100. So in fact, you have only to press on Button in the SMS-100 internal web page configuration to configure it as DLNA client. You have only to get in the option menu of Jriver and that work fantastically.   Than you are ready to drive your music from your tablet or Android Phone with Jremote or Gizmo or…

yes, I am sorry to said that, but I am completely neutral with this product. I sale this product in France, but NOBODY on this forum can order or buy this product from me. I have no web sale possibilities.

I don't speak about the SMS-100 as retailer, but as one people who have it since a few weeks and who is absolutely surprise from his audio quality.

I never spoke from the other SOtM product, I never spoke from the ETALON product, but this SMS-100 is for me, one very particular product.

I use the Jplay software since the 4.1 version. I make one show in Paris in November 2012 with my Jplay Computer has digital source.

Since 6 month I use one media server who outdate my Jplay Computer. but for more than 2000€, this is usual.

Since a few weeks, I discover this SMS-100 who outdate absolutely my 2000€ Media server. So I am Sorry, but as person who love music, I can speak from this product especially on one forum where I have nothing to win....

I give only fact, nothing more, nothing less.

You are welcome to check what I said by testing this product. After that you will have all the possibilities to give your feedback.

Today, I have tested the SMS-100, so I can give one report for it.

More, at the beginning, I only wrote one answer to one open question about this product. I don't start the topic...

best regards

Thanks for the precisions. Your answer is honest /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif

What is the PC configuration you compared with sotm mini server?

windows8+jplay in dual pc?

If it is, there is a huge différence to upgrade to win server core +audiophil optimizer and it would be good to compare it with this mini server.

Thanks for the answer, so you need a PC running Jriver, the SMS 100 and a Dac.

You can configure the SMS-100 to work as DLNA client. You configure JRiver to play through the DLNA client (usual function in JRiver) and that's all.

I would be also interested in a comparison between the sms100 and win server and the optimizer, if you dont use it right now!

Thanks a lot, and have fun!

My last configuration with Jplay 5.1 was Windows8, dual computer (audio PC -> laptop iCore 7).

The problem for me at the end was I have to find one solution with one single computer and that I have problem with the hibernate Mode.

I never tested with Win server and the optimizer.

I am absolutely convinced that this work great because each modification who will reduce the Jitter on the USB will improve the sound quality, so each time you reduce the latency delay in Windows, you will improve the sound quality.

The limitations of this system are that you need in each case also hardware modification (filter, better internal cables, linear power supply for the computer, faster cpu computer....) and this all have a cost.

My opinion today is that all of this is one never ending story, very interested to live, but where you forgot to listen Music.

My fisrt 2.000€ media server was full with hardware filters, have one linear power supply, one Optimized Linux operating System, with special software drivers to manage the different delay between the USB card and the mother board (also one SOtM USB Card and SOtM filters). The sound result was better (less Jitter on the USB and "perfect Hardware"solution) than my Jplay configuration and I find again the liberty to use all the music management software that I need.

So when I found one 500€ product who make a better job (perfect hardware and no more Jitter) than I have no reason the continue with Jplay at all. Also if I find one improvement with Windows server + optimization.

The Solution is not to reduce the Jitter caused by the OS in software evolution; the solution is to use one solution WITHOUT any Jitter.

But I am ready to make honest test if you explain me what I have to do with this windows server and optimizer.

At the end , I can always use the Jplay Solution for my private use, if the final result is better than the SMS-100 (maybe I am wrong ...) I am always ready to change my opinion if the fact give me wrong.

So please, give me the process that I have to follow to test this windows server + optimizer.

have a nice day...

Read this pdf:

http://www.highend-a........_guide.pdf

My setup is basic with a single dual boot PC. Win server is on a SSD disc. I use jplay mini in core with total commander to help me to find files. No linear power supply, no special cables for the moment and it's already a great improvement over Jplay+win 7 config.

You configure JRiver to play trough the DLNA client (usual function in JRiver) and that's all.

That would mean, one could use the DSP settings in JRiver (for convolving e.g.) and play via the SMS-100. But the Logitech Media Server has to be installed somewhere, or not? (NAS e.g.?)

Thanks a lot, tiggerkater

No, that mean that you can use the SMS-100 with JRIVER (DLNA Mode) OR with LMS (squeezbox mode). So if you like JRiver, you don't have to install LMS. You have only to configure the SMS-100 to work in DLNA mode.

in DLNA Mode with JRiver, you can of course use all DSP settings in JRiver.

in fact you have the choice between Squeezbox Mode (with LMS) OR DLNA Mode (JRiver, ASSET UPNP...) OR MPD mode or another one (but I don't remember witch).

Hi Etalonacoustics

"So please, give me the process that I have to follow to test this windows server + optimizer. "

Nothing new ? Did you try ?  Because between windows 8 and win Server 2012 core optimized, there are differences... and more with last jplay beta 14 or 15... /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif

in DLNA Mode with JRiver, you can of course use all DSP settings in JRiver.

In the meanwhile I tried to use another DLNA device with Jriver, and I was unfortunately not able to use the DSP engine. I think it is still on the to do list of the Jriver team.

Second, the Squeezebox Server has to run on the PC or NAS13, without the Squeeze Server, the SMS-100 wont work.

kind regards, tiggerkater

I try the last 5.2 beta version. In ultrastream and hibernate (single PC) Iam close to the sound of my "old" media server.

But far away friom the sMS-100.

I don't test the win server 2012, because the computer in my showroom is my working machine and I don't want to "destroy" anything on it.

But the sound with Jplay is, for me, only acceptable in Hibernate, and this is not a possible way to listen music. I had some crash by playing more than 1 track in Jplay Mini.

in each case, Jplay is one old story today.

But I order and receive since one week the Jcat USB Cable and this cable work very well. The effect is less with the sMS-100 than with my "old" media server, but it's one very good cable for the money.

best regards

hello, Tiggerkater.

Thank you for the information. I just have tested this and this don't work. Soory for the bad information.

The DSP is ONLY working in JRiver for local zone. I hope that JPlay will solve this one day.

What is you feeling about the sMS-100 ???

Best regards
